"We like to call this style of our music 'Cybermetal.' 'Zero' has six rhythm guitars, with two line-in 12-string acoustics, plus those wacky James Iha leads. Tracked live with overdubs added later, this is a true mover as well as the first song that was recorded for Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness, James has always said this reminds him of Judas Priest." -Billy Corgan (Guitar World 1/97)

I don't think it's one of their best by any means. It's good. I like it despite that fact that is was overplayed to hell back in the day.

The homerpalooza episode actually made no sense. The lollapalooza event they were depicting in the show actually occurred in 1994 (the smashing pumpkins only played lollapalooza in 1993), whereas zero was released in 1995 with the release of their album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Just fun facts. But then again, maybe it wasn't necessarily depicting one lollapalooza event, especially considering the bands/groups featured on the show didn't all play in one lollapalooza show.
