About this album

Teargarden by Kaleidyscope is the set of new songs currently being recorded by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, to comprise the band’s eighth full studio album, in a combined form of separate single music downloads and a series of physical EPs, released exclusively.

Formally announced by the frontman Billy Corgan on September 16, 2009, the 44-song concept album will be released over the Internet, from the band’s official website for free, one song at a time. Each time a set of four tracks has been made available for download, it will then be made available for purchase in two formats: a physical limited edition EP on CD and digital format. All eleven EPs will culminate as a box set with extended versions of the initial EPs. Corgan has described Teargarden by Kaleidyscope as “a new kind of album, an album you can hear as it’s being made.”

The following are the songs that were made available to download so far:
“A Song for a Son” – 6:03 (Made available December 8, 2009)”Widow Wake My Mind” – 4:27 (Made available January 18, 2010)

I agree with IlaSkywalker, the artwork is kind of lame. However, I don't agree with anybody who says this album sucks.

Hit: A Song For A Son, A Stitch In Time; Miss: Widow Wake My Mind, Astral Planes. So remember kids, the good Teargarden-Songs are the ones with uneven numbers. And if Billy keeps this up, we'll end up with 22 little gems. I'm okay with that...

the three released songs until now 'a song for a son', 'widow wake my mind' and 'a stitch in time' are not so good, though I have an awesome live version of song for a son with trumpets in it at the end, sounds great live... let's hope, the next album-tracks will be better...

The artwork totally sucks. It sucks in a creepy way. Completely.

This album is going to be the worst album ever written by Corgan. I think he should go back to Chicago. LA's air is making him sick.

The songs are decent. The "problem", if that's the word, is that the mastering doesn't do the songs any favors (they sound dry and compressed), and they're being released as crappy 192 kbps MP3s. Things should improve once we get some CD-quality audio and high quality live performances.
