The long and the short of it is that The Slow Wire was born out of necessity. The singer/multi instrumentalist/producer David Urbano was a well known Jersey scenester, photographer, and founding member of the late indie heroes Aviso'Hara, played guitar in the agit-art band Suran Song in Stag which also featured his friend Claude Coleman Jr from Ween/Skunk on drums, drove the bass for Bubblegum Thunder and recorded an Album with Steve Albini in Chicago, and was also known as dreadlocked "DBuzz" on bassness in the New Brunswick, indie metal outfit Mr. Thumb in the early 90s. His music takes into account the ART of the song with the sense that every guitar tone and 'happy accident' is part of the process. The notion that music itself must evolve is a Slow Wire credo. Diverse influences can be heard sprinkled into a distinct sound include: Weezer, Sonic Youth, GBV, Smashing Pumpkins, jesus and marychain, afghan whigs, Replacements and Dinosour jr. As recently as Aug 2007, he's taken up with his old band mate Walter Greene playing guitar with Eastern Anchors which is similar to their old band Aviso' where they are keeping the rock flame alive.
