Biography

There are at least two bands who have been named The Shanes one Swedish 60’s soft pop and one polka group from Germany 90’s.

1) The Shanes were a Swedish soft rock and roll band from the Northern part active from 1963 to 1969. Later the became a pure dance band.

The group played in a variety of British- and American-influenced styles, including R&B, Merseybeat, psychedelia, and instrumental pop. They were very successful in their home country, landing a string of top ten hit singles, including “Christ Craft No. 9”, which reached #2 there in 1967.[1] They released one single in Britain on Columbia Records, “I Don’t Want Your Love”, but it did not chart there.

2) The Shanes are a German hard polka band from Trier active from 1991 until now (disbandment announced for 2010). The band published 8 CDs and is touring mainly in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg, but they also performed in the USA/Texas, Great Britain, France, Poland and Hungary.
