The Scaremongers are the Sound of Mature Huddersfield, the band of choice for all grown-up pop fans, the poster boys for pre-Sage Alternative Rock! The Scaremongers are Armitage and Smith, friends from the vinyl era, brought up on mix tapes and the NME, when late night radio and independent record shops were the only places to find out what the future sounded like.

The Scaremongers’ first album, Born In A Born, was released in 2009 on Corporation Pop.

I like it. It's got personality, albeit a personality of a cardigan and a mug of ovaltine. Closer to Gareners World than the NME, but still very likeable :-) These songs would sound better recorded live, played half drunk, a bit faster and rougher and played LOUD.

figure out who's really important and copy them (Chuck Berry -- and now the Stones); ratchet up the tempo and lag your timing a bit so you swing, or at least people can dance to it; and don't give everything away in interviews. Plus, of course, lifestyle choices are your own business. I reckon you've already figured out that rock and roll is not as easy as it looks. Good luck with it.

The husband's no prize as a singer, either, which may give you food for thought. Lastly, study the Rolling Stones. If you can't be as smart as them, at least learn their lessons: be ambitious; figure out who's really important a

Hi. On the basis of one careful listen, I would say -- keep the female singer. That would give the male singer more time to work on the lyrics, and show the maturity to acknowledge that he's not up to the job of frontman. Paul Heaton you are not. However, Paul Heaton is a useful template to learn from: intelligent, caustic songwriting without pandering to teen subject matter; singing with your ow
