Tane Mahuta (2:58)
From Sea Lion and 3 other releases
Tane Mahuta is Maori for “Lord of Thr Forest” and is the name of both a tradtional god (who looks after the forest) and a giant kauri tree (Agathis australis) in the Waipoua Forest of Northland Region, New Zealand, which is thought to be between 1250 and 2500 years old.
The song Tane Mahuta has a ver traditional Maori feel, using rapidly strummed accoustic guitars and unison singing to achieve this. It has a celebratory, feel good, summery sound and forms one of the climactic points of the album Sea Lion, of which it is the third track.
