About this album

Consolers of the Lonely is the second album of The Raconteurs. It was released on March 25, 2008 on Warner Bros. Records in most parts of the world, and a day earlier on XL Recordings in the UK.

The band did no promotion before the album’s release, and its existence was only confirmed a week before. Even so, the record was accidentally leaked by iTunes, and some fans managed to purchase the album early. It is available on all formats including CD, vinyl, and MP3. A video for the first single from the album, Salute Your Solution was released on the same day.

Critique of Consolers of the Lonely was largely positive; much of it centered on the chaotic sound and diverse nature of the album as well as its reminecense to albums by Led Zeppelin and The Who.

I prefer this a little bit more than Broken boy Soldier. It's more cohesive and the songwriting is slightly better (Carolina Drama, oh my)

A flat-out masterpiece. Good songs that fit perfectly, with many changes, surprises and variety. This is the music I wish I could play someday

Don't know why exactly but this album always makes me think of a ''western-wildwest-cowboy-shootout-horse pursuit-shooting from the hip-in arizona or texas-starting a barfight-looking at a nice sundown/rise'' kind of image. I love this album to pieces, so complete and with so much understanding for what music should really be about. For me, this is Jack's all time masterpiece of any band he was/is/will be in!

Love this album!. Racounteurs sound like one-album-project in Broken Boy Soldier, but this album is a solid record with a particular style.
