THE PROPHECY are a progressive Doom Death metal band from the United Kingdom. Based in Halifax, in the English county of Yorkshire the band quickly adopted their name after producing a demo entitled Her Embrace… My Ruin. Though never officially released feedback from the demo was positive and the band went back into the studio shortly afterwards to record a second demo “To End All Hope”

It was this demo which secured the band their first tours in Europe and then America supporting Morgion and Mourning Beloveth on the DOOMINATION of Europe and America tours. The band released their debut album to coincide with the tour and this was soon noticed by Andrew Craighan and Hamish Glencross of My Dying Bride who decided to sign the band to their newly establishing record label, Blackdoom records. To help promote the record the band were invited to tour with My Dying Bride on their 2003 Sinamorata tour.

In 2004 work began on the follow-up to the Ashes CD. The songs were fully written and finalized and the band entered the studio in September to record drums. They then broke off the recording to play the BLOODSTOCK festival in Derby and to headline the DOOMINATION OF EUROPE II tour. This gruelling tour was to take its toll however, with second guitarist Christian Moore-Wainwright leaving the band shortly afterwards. The band struggled on with Lineup problems until the summer of 2005 with the recruitment Gavin Parkinson (Tefra) on bass.
