The perfect middle ground between Belle & Sebastian, Orange Juice and Gorkys Zygotic Mynci - this is unpretentious pop of the old school, fiercely dedicated to family and fun, rocking live shows and living on boats.

The Poppycocks, in various forms, have lived and played in Brighton for the last few years, building a wide and varied fan base among punters and artists alike. Slots with Brakes, The Pipettes, The Guillemots and Euros Childs have allowed The Poppycocks to infiltrate many appreciative audiences with their vibrant, sparkling character-based pop.

Proving their mettle at a handful of London shows has elevated the band into an ongoing concern for many labels including Fierce Panda. Late 2006 saw them release their debut single “Lovebirds” via Devon based label Drift Records. And a glorious pop gem it is too!

2007 proved a busy year, playing shows in London with Actress Hands and Thirty Pounds of Bone, local shows supporting BC Camplight and The Orange Lights, as well as being second headliners at Budstock festival in Devon. The year concluded with a pre-Christmas visit to Derbyshire as part of the Indietracks Christmas Twee event playing alongside The Icicles.

Work is also well underway on the bands debut album, tentatively titled “Sea Creatures” which should see the light of day later this year.
