Biography
Utrecht, Netherlands (2009 – present)
The Pink Flamingoes is a Dutch Industrial/Synthpop/Jazz formation formed in Utrecht in 2009, as an unevitable reaction against the current (miserable) popclimate in this dimension. The bandmembers met each other at a Krezip-concert in Addis Ababa where they, moments after the gig was finished, decided they never wish to see anything like that again.
After quitting as roadies for Dutch rock superstars Di-rect they founded an A cappella/Ska group called The Holocaust Denials of the 19th Century, together with Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter Jordy Mboma. tHDof19C was disbanded when Mboma accidentally (or was it?) blew up an airplane in mid-air. After a month of mourning the surviving members put together The Pink Flamingoes in a partnership with the satirical Dutch blog www.Hanenwurger.org.
The free Download ‘Alsdus’ was available through Last.Fm in December 2009. On February 14th 2010 during rehearsal Fred Kikker quit the band (his infamous lasts words were “Dan valt je toch niks meer in Godverdomme!!!”) and was instantly replaced by a jar of pickles, which performed far better on the electric foghorn than Kikker did (although it demanded a vast percentage of the bands income). So on 15th February, after the Jar was smashed against the ceiling, Fred was hired back as a consultant but had to play the bass triangle (>4 kilo) from now on.
