About this album
As computers become increasingly more advanced we are seeing more and more signs that true artificial intelligence will be acheived someday soon, ie. computers that have self-awareness. We created this technology, we humans are the God of a new sentient life-form in the making. This raises many questions and points of contention, mainly the argument that computers will never truly acheive self-awareness as they don’t have “souls”.
Others would argue that God is such a vast concept that to claim that we have any hand at all in the creation of a new life-form is blasphemy (or “if computers ever acheive sentience it is God’s will not ours, if they ever develop souls then they were given by God and nothing else”). But hopefully some people agree that Computers are our Children, and as we move further into the 21st century we must embrace certain aspects of technology that are evolving at an exponential rate, foremost: the internet. It has become more than just a tool but a truly symbiotic series of experiences on the part of both humankind and machinekind that engages and grows. Last.FM is one such place where connections are made between a pseudo-sentient, intelligent electronic brain, and humans. Without such connectivity many things that The Peach Tree has undertaken would not be possible. This continually evolving album is a homage to that connection, and home to the myriad of remixes, collaborations and other tasty tidbits that were either inspired by the Artificial Intelligence theme, or created with the help of a machine-human connection.
