The Panacea Society is a performance art experiment turned art rock duo, first conceived in 2003 by artist, front man and writer André Stitt during a series of happenings in the English town of Bedford. Stitt enlisted the services of sonic artist, Matt Cook, and the duo set about recreating the lost hits of the sixties Psychedelic outfit, Panacea. This lead to the release of Do Me Rattle b/w God is Sexy. Of course Panacea never existed, meaning the first performance by The Panacea Society would be revered locally as contemporary art prank.

With songs about white supremacy, road rage and dictatorships, their second EP, Flowers & Beads, and debut album, We Don’t Dig Doom, capture the group at their most danceable yet confrontational. Live, The Panacea Society perform with third member, Nic Finch, who illustrates their music with live video. The group have earned an excellent live reputation for Stitt’s wild, uncompromising performances and Cook’s angular, improvisational guitar.
