Biography

The Nines is an indie Toronto/Oakville-based power pop band comprised of Steve Eggers, Paul McCulloch and Warren Cliff. Music critic Bud Scoppa of Rolling Stone has written, “Picking up where The Beatles left off is a big challenge, but it can be done, as XTC, Jellyfish and Spoon have proved. The Nines belong in that rarefied company.”

The band released its first LP, ‘Wonderworld of Colourful’, in 1998. It was followed later that year by a four-song EP.

This band is utterly amazing. Only recently have gotten familiar with their music, but each track I hear is strong, melodic, and to these ears, delightful. Great stuff.

Too bad not more people know about these Canadian powerpop perfectors. Any fan of the Beatles, Beach Boys, or XTC will find a lot to like, which basically means 85% of music listeners.

What's the name of The Nines' song that the Jane Show uses as its theme song? It used to be on Teresa Pavlinek's myspace but now it says song deleted by artist.
