The New Slaves is an ambitious project, started in 2003 by a sole member, Tyler Drone. His self-released songs found an immediate fanbase in the industrial scene. One fan, 16Volt's own Eric Powell, tapped Tyler's talents to help write the comeback 16Volt record "FullBlackHabit", which became Re-Gen magazine's "Album of 2007".

In his off-time Tyler is lending his talents to television/film scoring, as well as several other development projects and remixes including dEFY, Deathboy, Avi Ghosh, and BLACKSLIDER.

  • Who cares if something sounds like something else, as time goes on and more bands come in to fruition, there is bound to be more bands that take elements from other bands and the bands that are held in high regard, such as NIN etc. Originality is hard to achieve, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if you like it you like it, if not no one is forcing you to listen to it. Personally I love Tyler's work here!
  • Well I do like The New Slaves, but to say that this is either unique or unlike nine inch nails would be quite a stretch. He's obviously heavily influenced by Trent Reznor, but there's nothing wrong with that.
  • @hunterdark You're entitled to your opinion, but I really don't hear much NIN here. Tyler has his own sound and you can hear it through most of his work (check out the last two 16volt records, you'll see what I mean). I think calling this a NIN wanna be would be like calling FLA a Skinny Puppy wanna be. They're in the ballpark, but they're hardly the same game.
  • @hunterdark I dunno, I always thought what Tyler was doing was cool and unique for his time, especially his work with 16 volt like "TherapY'.. "Somebody to Hate".. unless you don't like 16 volt either.
  • Who cares who these guys are? NIN wanna be's with that annoying synth sound tossed in. I give them a MEH for effort.
  • Who ARE You GUYS!?!!
  • Wow, umm... well.... Honestly? ... Much better than I expected really. I think i actually like it....
