no catálogo impressionante da banda, "start a war" é claramente um dos pontos mais luminosos (e olha que na linha acústica-lentinha eles ainda têm uma melhor). não tenho muito a dizer sobre esta música, exceto que eu gosto muito do verso-promessa "i'll be funny again" e que vejo uma belíssima imagem para uma poesia minha no trecho que fala sobre (a inutilidade de?) trancar (o sentimento?) num cofre atrás de uma pintura e sair porta afora. mas o que fascina mesmo é a letra muito convicta e lúcida para um arranjo que parece agitar como que formando ondas, escapar pelas mãos – e isso é muito bem observado no verso "i never had to hold you by the edges like i do now", que concilia letra e harmonia. esse misto de austeridade e opulência coloca a banda numa classe só dela.
