This version I am hearing is a remix of the vocals but the same arrangement my band lifted and used of the original Teens hit...Too bad ,Loudermilk, his was first(1960)..needed more oomph,I thought as I listened to it again...the early electric guitar sound is great but the piano playing is tops, too on the Teens hit!...Gawd,everybody covered this tune, didn`t they?

The amazing guitar work--exemplified by the snarling and instantly memorable string-bending guitar riff that opens the song--was played by none other than Jimmy Page, then a highly respected and sought-after session guitarist. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=7841

Loudermilk (from American Songwriter Magazine January/February 1988): "I got the idea for writing that song from a road in our town that was called Tobacco Road because it was where they rolled the hogsheads full of Tobacco down to the river to be loaded onto barges. Along that road were a lot of real tough, seedy-type people, and your folks would have just died if they thought you ever went down there." http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=7841

John D. Loudermilk’s was the original. This cooks, though. The cymbals are a little harsh.
