Biography

Washington D.C

The Morrison Brothers Band is a young, up and coming group from Washington D.C. Their sound is an original, soulful fusion of Pop, Rock and Country. While the group is new to the music scene and just beginning to promote its music independently, it is only a matter of time before their music is discovered by mainstream America. The band is hoping to sign with a record label in the near future, and is always looking for ways to expose larger audiences to its music. The group has a wide range of musical influences from Zac Brown Band and Citizen Cope to John Mayer and Van Morrison.

After gigging around Los Angeles for a few years, guitarist Truman Morrison and his brother Willie Morrison finished school and moved back east to form a new band and record their debut album ‘Midnight in Virginia’ in September 2009 with producer Eric Weinberg. Despite being released without promotional help from a label, the album has quickly become a cult classic on iTunes and helped the band garner a large local following. The band sold out the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA for their album release party in late September of ‘09.

The Morrison Brothers have won a number of songwriting awards, including most recently a first place finish in the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for their song “Comin’ to Get Ya.” Several of the band’s songs have also seen airplay on local radio stations across the country.

The Morrison Brothers Band will be hitting the road in the summer of 2010 to broaden its fan base and share its music with a larger audience. Until then, they continue to focus on writing and recording independently for their 2nd album, which they hope to release in the coming months.
