I took a ride in a limousine
I took a road I'd never been
I met a stranger by the way
His coat was torn but his eyes were clear

  • First time I heard this one on last.fm. Great song that rocks your socks off and then 'slides' so gracefully into Ray's crooning of 'Under Moonshine'. These Guys have sure been gifted to master the empirical correlation with the next world. BTW, where in the heck is Angie 56 on this one?
  • @yvettekuhns..Hate to burst that giant bubble ya got goin' down there ..BUT..Try Summer of 1978 is when "...Slide Zone." hit the Billboard Mag charts POS #39..The album "Octave" debuted in the Spring of 1978..Pinder left in 1972 after "Seventh Sojourn" .Trying to form a reunion,Pinder didn't get along with his other Bandmates, causing friction on the Octave sessions..They snabbed the departing Moraz from the group -Yes.. He andThe Moody Blues went out in Oct 1978 on the World Octave Tour.. By the way,I am hearing a good live version this time, don't know where from, don't care!
  • Nice live one...
  • Must depend on which version you happen to get. I got the good one this time.
  • This sounds great. What's with all the whining?
  • Definitely one for the bucket list.I've seen Justin on the War Of The Worlds tour, now to see him with the Moodies!!!!
  • This song was on the Octave album and was sung by John Lodge in the mid '70s. It was the last album to include original keyboardist Mike Pinder (who sang Simple Game, So Deep Within You, Melancholy Man). John Lodge's best lead vocals are on songs Isn't Life Strange and Lean on Me. I saw the Moody Blues in concert in the '90s with and without the orchestra and they were phenomenal! I have a Fender guitar that was signed by Justin, John, Ray and Graeme to show how much I still love the Moody Blues. While I enjoy the early music with original singer Denny Laine (remember the hit "Go Now"), I much prefer the work with Justin Hayward. Patrick Moraz was a great temporary replacement for keyboards, though I did love Mike Pinder's songs and vocals. The Moody Blues and Status Quo are two amazing bands that lasted for decades and still sound great.
  • Excuse Me? Have you experienced a Moodies concert lately? (This mix IS bad, though)
  • If this another bogus live version? Is it even the Moody Blues. If it is, it sounds like it was recorded after they were washed up.
  • really cool song
