Anyone who enjoys the Monkees, Spike Milligan, Zappa, Firesign Theatre Company, Woody Allen (in 'zany' mode), dreamy psychedelia, nonsense etc. should really hunt down a copy of 'Head'. A very entertaining film featuring this dreamy slice of pop perfection and more great music besides. The Monkees are so much more than their (very good) early hits would suggest.......and yes, Nesmith was the genius behind their greatest music. And he's left.....go figure!!
no puedo creer que hay niños q escuchan la porkeria del reggeton y q dicen q no escuchan esto porque es viejo y antiguo tengo 12 años y admiro a los beatles desde los 8 y digo que es la mejor musica del univesrso enteritooo!
Had 'Head' been marketed as the art-house flick it was, I think we could have been enjoying even more Monkees tracks like this and the brilliant 'Circle Sky'; it's obvious that The Monkees were reaching for something far greater than what they wound up being seen as by the masses ("second-rate Beatles who couldn't even make a decent movie"). We truly lost out on some great psychedelia when Mike Nessmith walked away (though we got some great country-rock in return, in the form of First National Band).
