a total VU thing going on. This became a template for the early East Coast punk sound. A great recording.

Their first LP came out in 74' but there is a demo of She Cracked from 1972 that is actually a little more aggressive than the released version. They are the innovators.

Clarity and honesty, and then to realise how quickly JR abandoned this early success on his journey for more clarity and honesty..

the first modern lovers LP, as I recall was released in 1974- that's a full 3 years before PUNK broke. This LP deserves to be more reckonned with. It is sheer genius, evoking a cadre of soundalikes for the next 30 years. I look at that BANNANA LP BY VU and I scratch me noggin'. Ya, but what about ath MODERN LOVERS LP? That had WAY more of an effect. I mean, she cracked INVENTED the FORWARD D
