I have a small algorhytm to to decide which artist I’ll feature next. The algorhytm fell on my own Distant Fires Burning project, and since I don’t want to differentiate between artists… :D

    Bio from DFB Press sheet:

Gert De Meester (born may 17 1977), who is also known as the bassplayer of the world-fusion-funk combo The Seven Laws of Woo and knob twiddler of The Mental Attack and Distant Fires Burning, lives in Mechelen, Belgium.

It all started with a Commodore 64. A friend asked Gert to take care of his C64 while he was renovating his house. In exchange he got the oportunity to experiment with that machine. Gert soon discovered you could use that C64 to make music. For years he played with taperecorders mixed with the C64 and a cheap Bontempi keyboard. But for Gert nothing interesting enough came out. …

Hey just for your info, Belectronics is the Belgian-Electronics-guise for me (Doorchaser) as Belambient is for the Belgian Ambient group. These users make it more easier to run both groups and I can use their library for the radio.
this group was never intended to become a promotion tool for my music. I have my own ways for that. But for selecting the featured artists I use an algorhytm just to be sure every artist that is connected gets featured and the algorhytm just stumbled on one of my aliases. And I just figured why not give it an equal shot! And it gives me the chance to update that Bio!!

  • Messierobjekten by Distant Fires Burning

    16 Feb 2009, 12:11 by Doorchaser

I just want to inform you all, that there are still copy’s available of my debut album Messierobjekten.

    http://www.electrobel.be/media/41978.jpg

After the Techno, IDM -trips of The Mental Attack, I decided to produce a concept album as Distant Fires Burning. Where I live I can watch the stars for hours, despite the pollution of light from the nearby city (Mechelen, Belgium). This resulted in “Messierobjekten”. Each track represents a feeling and an image. With this album the concept isn’t over yet because there are loads of other feelings and images.

Influences are Biosphere; Global Communication, Pete Namlook, Brian Eno

This album is about bringing closer things / constellations / feelings … that are far away or seem unreachable. The Messierobjects (In Dutch: “Messierobjekten”) are constellations that are several lightyears away from us. But Charles Messier could see them through his simple aperture telescope.

It’s fully streamable here so you can have a free listen and…

    Greetings from Pixies Palace!

We have a new DJ Radio Room just opened this week:

This great radio is thanks to Tartalo and the Endangered Languages group, one of the most deeply interesting to be found at Last.fm. Such beautiful and unique music to be heard on this radio!

    CYBERMUSIC WORKSHOP

'Decabastard', an artists collaboration project at our very own Cybermusic Workshop, is gaining momentum with 4 participating artists to date:

    titee (aka Titee the artist)

    kangaboy (of 5thinstar)

    gamoneterik (of The Peach Tree)

    redhalo (of Friends of redhalo)

The project needs another 6 artists to complete and also has the potential for a mixfest of tracks at the end (maybe even a cyber-album?) Get involved by contributing a line of music to it!

Overall, the workshop is shaping up to be a spicy and supportive space and we now also have a workshop radio playing all cyber collab tracks posted there by group artists.

Every week at Pixies Palace sees new artists arriving and joining the mix at Artist Radio, which currently includes the full music collections of 235 independent artists at Last.fm - and growing!

Artist Radio is a great place to hear the new independent artists, help them start hitting the charts and to catch up with new and unheard music from artists you might already know. Artists in the mix have at least one track for free download at Last.fm and often whole albums.

We now have 5 resident mixmeisters from 5 different parts of the globe hand-selecting and connecting artists and their music:

    syl - france
    cocco - japan
    red - canada
    dj sid - usa
    pix - australia
The mix is dreamily eclectic with a strong electro base and an ever widening range of genres. Listen to the intriguing, spacey, pumpin', rockin', challenging, unexpected and beautiful sounds of Artist Radio, the sound of artists who are real people making music in a vast array of places around the globe.
