Yikes, terrifying. Less intense than the album's opener, but with even darker subject matter. The most reactionary bible-thumper couldn't concoct a more terrifying journey into the bowels of the hell of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll: It's too alive to seductions of that life and the way its seductive elements pervade the entire culture of cheap sensation, youth worship, and exploitation. I guess it offers some comfort to those of us too socially inept to spend our nights partying with the plastic, pretty people--though it's cold comfort, since our only response is to reject that world in its entirety and retreat to solitude in our private hells. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the possibilities for human interaction under late capitalism. A bitter pill, topped off with a sweet, and sweetly ironic, piano-and-guitar coda.
