The Mekano Set mix elements of rock, dance music, improv and Musique concrète to create a style of music designed to please cool old Punks and angry young gay people, and in turn cause offense and confusion to conventional, boring musicians and fans of any one genre.
“Slick spiky electronic rock that screams darkness beneath a seemingly delicate exterior.” Natasha Scharf, Metal Hammer.
The band have varied influences but continue to site Curve, Kate Bush, Massive Attack and Hawkwind as their chief obsessions and reasons for wanting to make music.

The Mekano Set produce a sound that has variously been described as bass heavy, Gothic, filthy, drunken Breakbeat, sleazy, sexy, and tuneless noise. They use a variety of weird and wonderfultoys and instruments including Baritone guitar (6 string bass), electric 12 string guitar, syn-drums, drum-synths and live-looping devices.
