Mattson 2 is signed to the groundbreaking and stylish Santa Cruz-based label, Galaxia Records, which has released side project records by John Herndon from legendary post rock band Tortoise, indie hero Will Oldham from Bonnie Prince Billy and beats aficionado/artist Tommy Guerrero among others. In March 2007, Mattson 2 released a record titled Ray Barbee Meets The Mattson 2 in Japan, a collaboration melding the stylistic music of the Mattson 2 with the smooth sounds of Ray Barbee, who first gained wide acclaim as one of the first famous African-American skaters in the 80’s and later as a musician. Mattson 2 have played shows in such places as Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santos, Brazil; Copenhagen, Denmark; Hryvalla, Finland; throught out U.S.A. in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Michigan, South Dakota, North Dakota, Oregan, Washington, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Maine, Martha’s Vineyard, Florida, and Texas; various citys in Japan such as: Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Shizuoka, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okayama, and Kamakura.

so i fell in love with this track while watching the thomas cambel film "the present" and their names sounded familiar. come to realize that i grew up with them and they went to my high school while i was there. I used to skateboard with their older brother Micah Matteson. These cats cant be older than 24 and their sounds are so aged and powerful. ENCINITAS represent.
