The book of love has music in it, in fact that's where music comes from. Some of it is transcendental. Some of it is just really dumb.

I was introduced to this song through Scrubs when they played Peter Gabriels version. I looked it up and immediately fell in love with this version in particular. Stripped back lo-fi sound makes it so much more intimate, like this is personally being performed for me in the room just for me. The the vocals have just the slightest sardonic tinge to them, not pointed at the the subject of the song, but inwardly. I love this song. A truly sublime track.

j_brodu Gabriel's version sucks, Nataly Dawn's version sucks. wish people would stop saying obviously inferior covers of songs from this album are better than the originals. (3) -- seriously. agreed

Why people love to complain about PG version? I think it's very good, it's a different interpretation of the song. And I love this song. It's just wonderful.

Listening to Gabriel's version is bittersweet...beautiful instrumentation and singing, but I can't reconcile the original irony of the song with Gabriel's intended lovey-dovey interpretation.

peeps be mad that gabriel took the irony out of the song and actually made it a love song.

    Lyrically brilliant. Musically lame.
