The Lions

There are several artists with this name:

1) The Lions. Hailing from the same neighborhood in Dundee, Scotland, Darren and Chris, 10 years later, would meet half the world away, to create, The Lions.

In 2008 The Lions released there first LP Sounds Familiar. It was recorded in under 15 hours, mixed and mastered in less than a week. The band proudly wear there influences on there sleeves. Without reinventing the wheel or pretending to say they sound original, The Lions attempt to capture the riffs of Jimi Hendrix on a 7-string Ibanez and recite the melodies of The Beatles.

2) The Lions. The band draws together a dozen or so of LA’s elite reggae and soul forerunners who loosely coalesced as The Lions in 2007. Members of the legendary ska band Hepcat, Deston Berry and Alex Désert, form half of the vocal team, and the latter also has a successful career on screen, including roles in the films Swingers and High Fidelity. The other half is the sweet falsetto of Malik Moore and DJ stylings of Black Shakespeare, the charismatic cousin of Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly & Robbie fame) and co-runner of the i&i Sound System, a customized ice cream van bringing bass to the streets of the west coast and featured on the cover of both Saul Williams’ self-titled album and an issue of XLR8R Magazine.

Other members include guitarist Dan Ubick, formerly of Breakestra, Macy Gray co-writer and collaborator Dave Wilder on bass, plus musicians who have played with the likes of De La Soul, Barrington Levy, Beck, Raphael Saadiq, Big Daddy Kane and Black Eyed Peas.

There are so many bands out there calling themselves The Lions. The group that has stolen my heart are The Lions who hail from Scotland and now play in Canada, which is a plus for me and so many other Canadians out there. The Lions that I listen to have three CD's out so far, called Untitled, Sounds Familiar and Live Love Laugh. Some of my favourite songs are : In The Long Run, Good Time Girl, Money, Rock n Rolla, Red Roses, Magic and Screaming Gun. I could go on and on but would run out of space in here. The Lions also have an up coming show with Our Lady Peace and Jet. Check this band out if they come to a town or city close to you. They put on excellent, outstanding performances. Get ready to do some Rock n Rolla with The Lions, trust me you will not be disappointed. Chris, Darren, Justin and Liz, keep on rockin and pumping out great music, and the song writing is absolutely brilliant. Looking forward to the next album when it comes out.

The Rampant Lion is traditional symbol on the Scottish flag in my country and my culture. The Scots have used it for a few hundred years now. We have been a band since 2003, and our first recording was done in Canada's studio "The Beach" in 2005. I can send you a copy if you like. We are not an American band, we are Scottish and play in Canada, so I suppose that makes us a Scottish-Canadian band. Unfortunately does not recognize that we are separate bands and put's all of our information in the same profile. For example you could go on The Beatles page and call yourself The Beatles and they would not delete it because under there terms they must recognize that you are The Beatles. It's a little complicated. If you'd like to check out our authenticity please check out our upcoming show's with Our Lady Peace and Jet. We have also played a couple shows with Mobile and The Arkell's.

Hi Music Team, I don't find the video there although your message says it's been processed and online. Also it was uploaded and online before and has vanished. Moreover our has been hacked several times by some kind of american rock group calling themselves "the lions" . Can you stop that please? The Lion is a traditional symbol in Reggae music and has nothing to do with rock! You find lions in Africa but not in America (unless they're in a cage ;-). Also our has been established in 2007 and there is nothing from the hackers before 2008.
