28 Feb 2006, 19:50 by ifrWell after being really disappointed yesterday when the line-up for the V Festival this year was announced, today I've gone and booked tickets and transport to go to Oxegen instead. Not instead, as well. I'm going to go to both.
Oxegen line up includes:
The Magic Numbers
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Tickets for Oxegen aren't on sale until Friday, but they're on pre-sale now if you know the "password". People are actually selling the password on eBay. Incredible. If you go to Ticketmaster and go to buy tickets, there's a box to enter the password or you can't complete the sale. The password is "OXEGEN". Imaginative, eh?
Roll on July...

17 Feb 2006, 23:51 by red_lemon29OK, last time I saw the Kooks it was in a venue smaller than your average village hall and I got in free because the venue were giving tickets away. To me they were just another band playing on a (I can't remember the day) night at my local gig venue.
This time they practically took over the Fuzz club and turned it into a proper Kooks gig with their stage presence and mass appeal that even they were surprised at.
Support band, the Automatic were pretty good, if not a bit samey. One guy said he instantly recognised the first song he heard believing it was the only one he heard, shame he was mistaken.
The Kooks really got the crowd going with crowd surfers testing security's strength. Having gone back stage to wait for the finish, I was suprised that they played an encore, first time I've seen this at fuzz.
The crowd were satisfied, but I somehow wasn't. There's still something about the Kooks that doesn't agree with me, probably because they will always be that band that played…

16 Feb 2006, 21:19 by Hirenj_auI know, poor form to have two journal entries in one day - but I needed to put the links to this up somewhere.
I was browsing the upcoming gig list at Karlstorbahnhof, and managed to figure out how to find out who is playing for any month past the current one.
I was pleasantly surprised to see:
Xavier Rudd 21/03/06
The Kooks 18-19/04/06
Coldcut! Here! In Heidelberg. The Ninja tune fanboy in me is going absolutely nuts. Whee!
Xavier Rudd should be pretty cool too.
I think I should be able to go to at least twelve gigs this year at this current rate.
Update 17/02/06 - Why didn't anyone tell me about the Coldcut podcast?
Update 22/02/06 - Looks like The Kooks are doing a German tour. Hopefully I can drag myself up to Frankfurt for the concert.
Update 01/03/06 - Goddamnit, Coldcut are gone from the gig listing now. What's going on?!

15 Feb 2006, 00:29 by themshow118Alright so I reached this milestone earlier in the week than I expected...some slight changes in the bottom of the list from the top 10 at 6000 but overall not a huge difference:
1. Oasis-Don't look for this to change anytime soon, at this point the only band that had the momentum to beat them, Arctic Monkeys, have completely tapered off in listens recently.
2. Stereophonics-These guys do have a double live CD coming out in April, so it'll be interesting to see if they'll be able to reach Oasis.
3. Arctic Monkeys-Haven't had as many listens in the past week or 2 as they did in the previous months, so I don't think they'll be climbing any higher than this.
4. The Beatles-COULD pass Arctic Monkeys in another 1000 tracks, time will tell.
5. Richard Ashcroft-He's probably peaking here, but he should hold steady for a while longer.
6. Eels-I think Mr. E and gang also have a live album coming out, but I'm not sure when. When that happens they will probably pass Dicky Ashcroft…
