    The Kinks couldn't tour the US in the late 60's..may have hindered their ultimate success just a wee bit but they made up for it in the 70's and part 80's

    Well, yeah (yeah yeah) the Beatles did get a lot of attention in the 60's, but so did a lot of other bands including the Kinks, because it was all new and exciting and all the bands seemed to want to sound different from each other. this is how I saw it in the UK anyway, but then I was only 6 when the Beatles released their first record. Right from the start though I always really loved the Kinks, right up there with the Beatles and Stones and others
