The King Blues are a political band accredited for fusing ska and folk together with influences from punk rock. They originate from London, England and formed in 2004.
Their third full length album, Punk and Poetry, was released on the 17th of April 2011
Tariq Ali described the band’s sounds as ‘rough, radical music that should unsettle the rulers of this country. A new generation of musicians are challenging war-monger politicians and their courtiers’. Influences include Public Enemy, The Clash, The Specials, Black Flag and Minor Threat.

Only heard "punk & poetry" but very disappointed. Is "What if punk never happened" an homage to Carter USM, or were they just hoping no-one would notice ? Haven't heard the first 2 albums, and I've heard good things so I'll have to listen to them but as it stands I'd rather listen to Culture Shock, Sublime & Jaya The Cat.

I don't want Metallica to make a new 'Master of Puppets' over and over again. Instead, I just listen to 'Master of Puppets' over and over again. It makes a band more exciting if they sometimes change directions. No one likes a dull long one-way road. Same for The King Blues. If I want my Itch to sound like a warm summer afternoon, I go for Under The Fog. If I want my Itch to sound like an execution, I go for 'Punk & Poetry'. And 'Save The World, Get The Girl' is just a great party-album! Great musicians make music that fits every moment. :)

Don't like how a band has developed, then just find something else. If a band made the same music album after album, people would complain. Show some kind of progression, people complain. Music taste is also an ever changing thing. You won't necessarily love the same band for the rest of your life. I like them, they were good live.

I don't care about selling out, but I don't get all the enthusiastic crowds... They sound like someone took a decent 3rd wave ska band, combined it with some mediocre Britpop and told the lyricist to be political... I thought maybe seeing them live would improve my estimation of their music, but no... I've been bored (despite really trying to enjoy myself) through 2 of their gigs...

Ticket prices for this next tour are shocking. I defended them when people said they sold out, but consider this and the popiness of the new album, maybe I shouldn't have. Good thing there's lots of other bands at the moment to take their place in my affections.

The new album has some great moments lyrically ('Shooting fascists' and '5 Bottles of Shampoo' for example), but loads of shitty (and fairly cheesy) rock songs too (like 'I Want You' and 'Everything Happens for a Reason'). So basically it's good and a bit rubbish at the same time.
