The Jazz Renegades were an early acid jazz combo that took the “jazz” label seriously. Their sound is reminiscent of jazz from the late ’50s and the ’60s.

It doesn’t come across so much on their instrumental work, but The Jazz Renegades were also keen on the political side of acid jazz, seeing their music as both culturally and politically revolutionary and committed to social justice.
