phonefreakhoney- I agree so much, I am researching this and trying to see if I can get Wikipedia editors to notice this and include it in the article. While researching *cough* googling, I came across this shoutbox. I have also found out that the album "the Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" was top 5 in the UK music charts in March 68. The Lumberjack Song premiered in December 69, long enough for the Monty Python crew to have unconsciously absorbed it and close enough for the relation between the two to be plausible. Unfortunately changing wikipedia can be tricky but I will let you know if I get it done!

I remain convinced that this song is in fact an early prototype for the much funnier "Lumberjack's Song" by Monty Python. You cannot convince me otherwise.

The only Scottish band to play Woodstock apart from the Who. Don't discriminate just cos you're a buffalo.

He'll do what's wrong as long as he can. Reminds me of my sadly 'late' husband!

Fantastic song. Fantastic album. I bought it in 1969 and have loved it ever since. This song perfectly captures a very "orcish" minotaur. (I got this album about the same time I read LOTR and the two are inextricably linked in my mind.)
