Storms through your ears and kicks the furniture around in your brain. Mad, sad and bad in a very good way – Daily Telegraph

The Holy Soul are led by Trent Marden (guitar and vocals) who is currently backed by Sam Worrad (bass), Jon Hunter (Guitar) & Kate Wilson (drums). Their first ep ‘Love Ha Left The City Limits’ featuring Tim Malfroy (guitar) and Owen Penglis (drums) was desperate and raw collection of swampy cassette recordings of songs about life beyond the reaches of city limits (Bowral) , The debut album ‘Sign of The Triangle’ was only a short step to the left engineered by Jon Hunter (who later replaced Malfroy) on 1/2 inch 8-track in Malfroy’s Bee Keeping Shed far west of Sydney in a small town called Freeman’s Reach. Its songs follow along a similar path with “This Geography is Killing Me”, “Dead Town” and would be very dark record if it weren’t for Mardens wit and a times humorous delivery particularly in the stripped country ballad ‘Never Trust a freind’ and the feedback filled Mary’s Tainted Lemonade. In 2007 the contributed their own take on Rowland Howard’s ‘I Burn’t Your Clothes’ compiled by French label Stagger Records

A new album is expected by the middle of 2009 with the first take “Thats All” set for release in April 2009 on a split 7” with Melbourne’s Bowerbirds. The album to follow represents a new Holy Soul, recorded in Hunters studio in suburban Western Sydney over the course of 2008 it delineates from the their swampland roots being a diverse collection of songs about their travels to Europe, factory working, divorce, trains, rivers & arguments.
