So in August A Better Way To Go was officially formed. The original five members of the band were Magic Laczny (guitar), Rob O’Donovan (guitar), Kyle Anderson (Drums), Kent Rahman (vocals), and Griffin Marshall (bass). These five dudes would get together and write two very catchy songs. They went into Parkhill Studio’s to record their self titled demo in the winter of 2002. The band was getting somewhat known and people started to get a liking to the band. The band played a couple of shows in local highschools to start to get their name out there. It worked. But tragedy befell the band in January 2003. Kyle was offered to play in No Word Of A Lie and he wanted to juggle both bands but it wouldnt have worked so he left A Better Way To Go for the meantime. Then Magic had to leave for personal reasons, mostly because of the unsupportive parents and Rob would not play without Magic so that basically left Kent and Griff with nothing. So the band was over and done with. Or was it?
In March 2003 Magic and Rob talked and decided that this was what they were going to do for the rest of their lives and that no one will put them down and not let them do what they want to do. So A Better Way To Go was formed up again and this time with three new members: Luke Vigeant (vocals), Brian Fleshman (drums), and Paul Salvatore (bass). The band quickly started writing new songs and started developing their own catchy style. The band started to get more noticed and in June 2003 they went into Parkhill once more to record their EP “Before Sun & Saints”. This CD would give the band a greater fan base and more shows. The band was getting better and tighter and playing more shows and things were looking up for the band. But just as things were getting better, something came up and it would bring yet another line up change to the band. Luke had to leave the band due to the fact that he has to attend school in the East coast, Brian had to leave the band because he is moving down to Miami so that wouldnt work out, and Paul left too. So with that news Magic and Rob had to find new members again. So they took back Kyle Anderson and added a new bassist Justin Degraaf. They are still currently trying to find another vocalist. These two definately add a lot of flavour and talent to the band and things can only go up from here. The new line up will effective on August 29 and many are looking forward to seeing this band. Until then the older line up will be rocking with us till August 23.
So what is happening now? Nothing. Things are still the same. They are still writing new songs, getting ready to head into the studio in September 2003, planning three tours and just playing shows. Keep an eye out for this band they definately need some attention. Also with new members comes new ideas. So if you hear these dudes have a show near your town go check them out. Its not a waste of time.
