Based in Glasgow, The Girobabies are on their way up into the forefront of the music scene, gaining celebrity fans such as Rhys Ifans along the way.The Girobabies came about after lead vocalist Mark McGhee and his friend found themselves suddenly in-between jobs. They decided to start a band that reflected their employment status. (Hence how they got their name The Girobabies, as the definition of the word Giro is ‘a check given by the British government to someone who is unemployed.’) Having recently supported Proud Mary (founded by Noel Gallagher) and earning themselves air time on the BBC, they have a big underground following. The Girobabies allowed everyone to download their `The Broken Home Sessions ` E.P for free this, included songs from the `Sack the Unemployed` C.D that they gave out at a couple of gigs.
(June 2009).
They had now started recording in a real studio as part of their `Social Not Working` album and have duly added the first two tracks called ` Stalker Drama ` and `Jeremy Kyle (Fucked My Wife)` These songs can be downloaded at as they started to promote an official release set for May 5th 2010 and was actually released on 15 August 2010 on trafficconerecords.

They have spent the last year gigging across Scotland and hope to reach out to England and Amsterdam over the coming months to promote their first real musical release.

They have recently released ’ Bus Stop Apocalypse ’ on 05 June 2012.
