The Four Seasons is an American (Belleville, New Jersey, USA) rock and pop band who became internationally successful in the mid-1960s. The Vocal Group Hall of Fame has stated that the group was the most popular rock band before The Beatles. Since 1970, they have been known off and on as Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, or simply The Four Seasons.

In 1960, the group known as The Four Lovers evolved into The Four Seasons, with Frankie Valli as the lead singer, Bob Gaudio (formerly of The Royal Teens) on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals.

The Four Seasons and the Beach Boys were virtually the only American groups whose successful careers were not derailed when the Beatles and the British Invasion bands hit the States in 1964. In fact, 1964 ranks as the Four Seasons’ biggest year of all, despite the insurgency from abroad, which attests to their durability and appeal among America’s teenagers. That appeal stemmed from the Four Seasons’ ability to complement spotless Italian-American doo-wop harmonies with the forceful falsetto and three-octave range of lead vocalist Frankie Valli - the other members were Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, Gerry Polci on drums, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals.

    haha, not even on the four seasons shoutbox can one find refuge from the silly radiohead comments.. jebus. i'm beggin', beggin yoou-oo-oo-ooh, to shut the f**k up about radiohead already, unless you're on radiohead's own shoutbox or some forum or some band that has got anything whatsoever to do with radiohead. thanks.

    Radiohead are better than jesus? Errrrr, can't agree with that. I like some of their songs, but they're not a band who's going to leave a lasting impression on the music business like a lot of the classic bands did.

    I also love the Four Seasons, they are up there among the best of the 1960s acts, for sure. I'm off to see Jersey Boys this week, I've heard nothing but good things about it so I hope I won't be disappointed.

    I love the 4 Seasons. Thom Yorke has yet to write a song as catchy as Walk Like a Man. Yorke pretty much gave up on trying to write actual songs after OK Computer. Big Girls Don't Cry, Stay, Oh What a Night, Sherry, Walk Like a Man, etc. have more lasting appeal than BS like Kid A (yet I still listen to Radiohead). Radiohead were just a fad of the moment band who overstayed their welcome.

    Well I for one love 'em to bits. A great band, no matter what their name is, (Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons?). You won't find Radiohead or Red Hot Chili Peppers battling for pole position in my stats either
