Selling my vinyl of the S/T is one of my biggest regrets ever. The crackling and surface noise perfectly complemented the hushed spooky vibe of the album, and the CD version just sounds wrong to me without it.

I'd rank their self titled almost as high as Slint's "Spiderland". It's impossible for me to listen to either album without flashing back to the beautifully bleak autumns that I spent listening to them in the middle of the night while drunk.
