@jokerlass: Funny how you namedrop Proust and then make a reference to a Kundera novel.

the postal service takes out a lot of the emotion from the song.

I have been familiar with both versions for years and I haven't been struck by either until I picked up Give Up on vinyl with the B-Sides and heard their cover again. Both versions are great.

Yeah, I know who the Postal Service are, but I had no idea THEY did it as a cover.

weird but i'm one of those that heard the postal service's cover first. I had no idea it was a flaming lips song (that was some years ago), then when I first gave a listen to the soft bulletin and it came to this song, i was pretty happy. Just because the original is much better

V I heard the Postal Service cover first, too, but I think the original wins for me, hands down. Because that bassline in the beginning was AWESOME.

The "driving home" part is the best.

It sounds strangely disjointed to me. But I like it. A lot. 'Putting all the vegetables away' is definitely one of the best lines in a song. Flaming Lips keepin' it real.
