• HAVES: KC/Lawrence (& more) Music: splits/comps

    18 Nov 2010, 03:00 by thisisahiijack

    1. This is a journal containing bands and albums I have recordings from on my computer. Though I try to support local music as best as I can by attending shows and buying albums, not all of this music I am in direct physical possession of through purchase.
    2. Not all of the bands below are directly from the KC/Lawrence area. Other cities and towns I keep in this collection are Topeka, KS, Columbia, MO, Wichita, KS, Warrensburg, MO, Manhattan, KS, and a few other, more rural areas of the region. Essentially, it contains everything east of and including Wichita in Kansas, and everything west of and including Columbia in Missouri.
    3. In addition to the previous point, you will notice that not all of the bands here are current residents of the region. Many bands (Mates of State, White Rabbits, etc.) unfortunately decided to move away to a larger metro area. Others (The Appleseed Cast, Namelessnumberheadman), were started in different regions and then relocated here at some point, usually early in their career. …
  • SXSW Wrap-Up, Part 2

    25 Mar 2007, 15:46 by heatherc

It's now been a week and as you'll see I've already forgotten a lot, but the artists that I liked are still memorable.

    FRIDAY 3/16/07

The Figgs @ Dog & Duck (great) I was running late so was going to skip this, but then figured since it was on my way and they may be running late themselves, I might as well give it a shot. Fortunately, they were late and so I got to visit with some people briefly before they played their fantastic, but short, set. It also worked out because it put them in my consciousness such that they ended up saving my Saturday night. They finished with One Hit Wonder, which was absolutely fantastic. Of the three big power pop bands I saw this year (Sloan and You Am I being the other two), these guys were my faves. Afterward, they also played a couple songs with Graham Parker, who mostly played solo, but I was talking and missed his entire set.

Okkervil River @ ACL Studios (highlight) This was a kexp broadcast. …

  • More CDs than I know what to do with.

THIS LIST IS NO LONGER ACCURATE. It will remain in it's current state forever as a reminder of the time when I had this many CDs, but the fact of the matter is, most of these albums SUCK and I was either too young to realize it, or just simply in denial. So I sold them.

This is simply me masturbating to how many CDs I physically own and making an online list of them and updating it constantly as well as the number of CDs I own. Feel free to leave comments of awe or disgust. I don't really care. I own a lot of CDs and I'm dang proud.
