    They're playing around with their sound to the very end, and it's still rewarding. There's no set-up: we're thrust immediately into the first two verses of the song. But that's only the first minute. Next up is a huge, exploratory middle section: the guitars drop out, and the rhythm section plays mechanically for four minutes while the rest of the instrumentation changes around it. After a minute or so of playing around with the percussion, the guitars reappear--but not to solo (which is what we'd expect here). Instead, they play around one another, trying out new rhythm guitar sections. It's as if they're trying to find a variation on the song to play. But it never quite happens. And in the final minutes, The Feelies seem to conclude, "Oh hell, we were right to begin with." They throw us headlong into the original song with a reprise of the first verse. After all that noodling, though, it sounds even better than before--more bracing and immediate.

    Oh my Buddha, I definitely agree with mattmacneil. I'm a delivery guy, I drive like a maniac, it was raining hard and that screech came on... instant pants-ruiner indeed. Great song, though.
