The Favours are an / outfit from Hull, England, fronted by Sara Sanchez on guitar, and with Martin King on bass, Dave “You Know It Baby” Nivelles on drums and Paulo Burtoni on guitar. They’ve been compared to Metric, The Cardigans and fellow Hull band The Paddingtons, and are currently signed to Stonetrax Records.

They formed in Hull in November 2002 with Sara, Martin, Paul and Carl. Gigging throughout 2003 and 2004 earnt themselves a reputation as a solid, contemporary London-style rock group, with many gigs in Whitechapel’s Rhythm Factory and the associated scene. The band self-released the album ‘Magpie’s Revenge’ in the summer of 2004.
A split EP, featuring tracks ‘Kill’ and ‘Out of Control’, was released by the Manchester based label Filthy Little Angels in August 2004.
Tensions in the band led to the final show with the original lineup at the Adelphi in Hull on the 21st December 2004.

The band re-emerged in March 2005 with a new line-up, now including guitarist Andy, drummer Dave and original members Sara and Martin. In August 2005, the band was selected to play the Unsigned Stage at Leeds Festival and in January 2006, the band toured America with The Wrens. This sell-out tour included gigs at New York Bowery Ballroom and The Northstar Bar in Philadelphia. The band then went on to headline their very own New York show. The Favours teamed up with The Wrens again on a UK tour in Spring 2006, ending with a sell-out show at London’s ULU.
