Biography
The Fad was a band from Long Island, NY that played a mix of punk, ska, and hardcore. Founded in 2000 under the name “Death: 101”, the band originally consisted of Jimmy Doyle, Jay Beiner, Matt McGregor, and Dave Solomon of High School Football Heroes. Death: 101 broke up after Doyle left for college, however Doyle, McGregor, and Beiner soon reunited under the moniker “The Fad”, adding Tom Malinowski on guitar. In 2004, they released their 8-song debut, “Number 5”, after which Beiner and McGregor left the band to pursue college. Danny “Dangerous” Sabella and Adam Foster soon joined the band on bass and drums, respectively, releasing the EP “Quit Your Band & Join The Fad.” The band went through a variety of lineup changes and additions. Cody Klein eventually joined the band as a second guitarist. In October 2007, the band released the full-length album “Kill Punk Rock Stars”. While touring to support the album that winter, their van was destroyed after swerving off road during an ice storm. In October 2008, following the departure of Cody Klein, the band broke up. They reunited in May 2009 for a benefit show for a friend’s father, who had suffered a severe spinal chord injury. They are embarking on the “The Fad Give it a Rest” tour this winter.
