Biography

1.The Exit is a band from New York City whose craft blends a delicate taste of 80’s dub and reggae with 90’s punk and indie rock. Comprised of Jeff DaRosa on bass and vocals, Ben Brewer on lead guitar and vocals, and the singularly-named Gunnar on drums, The Exit function similarly to the Clash or Husker Du. Two individual songwriters, that each posses their own unique sound and point of view, while complimenting each other. If DaRosa’s work tends toward introspection, Brewer’s songs are searing and bold, while both attack affairs of the heart and matters of the world. Brewer and Gunnar, met in Highschool and had played in several bands together, one of them turned into an early incarnation of ‘The Exit’. It wasn’t until 2000 that Brewer met DaRosa while attending school in Boston. DaRosa soon joined the group, and the band started touring in early 2001. Since then the band has recorded 2 albums- New Beat (2001) - Produced by Daniel Ray (Ramones, Misfits, Debbie Harry) on Some records, and Home For An Island originally released in 2004 on Some records. In 2005 The Exit signed to Wind-Up Records and re-released ‘Home for an Island’ - Produced by Ron Saint Gemain (Tool, Sonic Youth) and Chris Shaw (Weezer, Public Enemy, Bob Dylan)

Susan was used on the American Pie 2 Soundtrack.

2. The Exit were a punk band from the South Side in the late 1970s. They were short lived and only played a handful of shows (one of which was in Calumet City), though they did manage to put out a record in 1979. Not much else is known about them.
Releases: Who Asked You / Out In The Street 7” (City Rock, 1979)

I discovered that Jeff DaRosa joined the Dropkick Murphys (from his and the Dropkick Murphys Wikipedia page): Jeff DaRosa – acoustic guitar, banjo, bouzouki, keyboard, mandolin, whistle, organ, vocals (2008–Present)

Had the good fortune to see these guys play in a really small venue with a really small crowd. Almost ran over the guitarist as I pulled into the parking lot, so small it was. Anyway, there's a small nostalgic part of my heart that'll always be reserved for The Exit. My autographed poster and CD are anxiously awaiting some new music!

"Don't Push" was a iTunes free download, which is why that is so popular. I'm guessing "Susan" is popular because of the American Pie soundtrack.
