The Duende Project
Biography
Made up of veteran performance poet Tony Brown and bassist/guitarist Steven Lanning-Cafaro, The Duende Project came together in 2006 as a one off project but quickly became an ongoing musical and poetic entity, playing readings and clubs up and down the East Coast of the US from their base in New England.
Brown’s poetry represents 30+ years of writing, publishing, and performing. Frequently overtly political and progressive without being strident, the work also reflects on questions of identity, internal and family conflict, and human relationships.
Lanning-Cafaro is a skilled electric bassist influenced by Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, and Stu Hamm; his guitar work reflects jazz and Latin influences.
