“Soul Kitchen” is a song by The Doors from their self-titled debut album The Doors. It is the tribute to the soul food restaurant Olivia’s in Venice Beach, LA, where Jim Morrison often stayed for a long time, for it reminded him of his home.

Listening to the debut album ^The Doors" released January 4,1967. Reached #4 on the US Billboard charts and is a muti-platinum album. This song is credited as written by the band Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore. Larry Knechtel on bass guitar.

The first time I ever smelled incense other than in a church, the first time I ever saw a psychedelic poster, and the first time I ever saw "black light," was with this song playing.... and not long thereafter, I saw The Doors in one of the most famous shows ever. I was age 16, and I wrote about it for when journals were a major part of this website. The story, in case you're interested, is posted here,

'your fingers weave quick minarets, speak in secret alphabets' is still the best line in a song I've ever heard.
