Black Bubblegum (4:04)

Cover of Ire Works

From Ire Works and 3 other releases

Random DEP trivia… The drum pattern during the pre-chorus of “Black Bubblegum” was inspired by the drum beat of the 2nd verse of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”… A fact that I had forgotten until Steve Evetts just reminded me.

Got so much salt from your lies poured into me
You didn't see yourself dead already
So full of it with every breath that you breathe

Every now and again I rewatch the Conan O'Brien performance just for the sheer insanity of it...Greg venturing into the crowd where they're all in collective 'WTF are we watching' mode...Conan dancing along waving a glowstick...the whole thing just screams TDEP

The only reason anybody hates this song is that they can't stand it's accessibility. They're just pissed that their pseudo-hardcore banner is going to be taken away if they listen to anything that is a little more musical than 43% burnt and so they feel a little threatened by this song. It's kinda sad. [3] Damn Hipsters.

Not their greatest song, but it's irresistably catchy.
