I fell on the playing field, the work of an errant heel
The din of the crowd and the loud commotion
Went deafening silence and stopped emotion
The season was almost done, we managed it 12 to 1

oh fine, you're right, this track and every other track that's just a little bit sad is clearly a Morissey rip

ah well here comes Johnny Yen again with the liquor and drugs and the flesh machine..... This song is pretty much a cheerful Lust For Life.

John Hughes should come back from the dead and make a movie based on this song.

I have vividly imagined, many times before, a proper music video for this song. It's a battle scene inside of a Macy's store; a bunch of foes trying to take on one slim bad-ass. In the end, they're all running out of the store into the parking lot, bloody, limping away, while our protagonist is strutting out the door doing jazz steps
