This is why the Decemberists are amazing, these lyrics are incredible and tell amazing stories, no other current band is able to craft this kind of stuff.

This song always makes me want to write poetry. Not sure if that's an appropriate response, but I love these lyrics.

Also, in my experience it is much more looked down upon to claim you like a band when in reality you only like one song, as opposed to claiming you dislike a band when in reality you do enjoy one song. Personally I think it's one of those cases where you shouldn't argue about it: If they're a little inaccurate on how much they like a band or don't describe it the way you would, who cares; if it's a sign that they're dishonest and fake in general, then that's a problem.

I always thought that it was "the lowing of the capybaras" rather than "the lulling of the cafe bars". Strange.

I really don't like the Decemberists at all, but this song is beautiful. Agreed completely!

i would agree with the PP. it is completely possible to dig a song and not a band as a whole. that said, i hope this song digs into your subconscious and acts as a gateway drug to Mr. Meloy's eloquent and surreal world. it's a strange and wonderful place. ;)

I think there's a distinction between liking one song, and liking a band. There's no need to be rude.
