In matching blue raincoats our shoes were our show boats
We kicked around
From stairway to station we made a sensation
With the gadabout crowd

This is the song that first introduced me to The Decemberists. Felt fortunate to discover the band that day. All these years later, I still feel fortunate to love a band that churns out so much good music.

This is perfection but they never came close to making anything as good as this again . Oh well.

This song is my Middle School. When i entered high school i stopped listening to it. Now whenever i go back and listen to it i'm reminded of all of those awkward phases and weird preteen-almost-teenager days. But it used to make me so happy. Now, even though it has this nostalgic weight, its transformed into something that makes me even happier. I'm grateful.

Probably the only song about male prostitution that I will ever enjoy.

It surprises me that the Decemberists wrote a song this queer. Prolly why I like it so much, even though it makes me sad.

Bah humbug. The Smiths at least had a sense of humour. Even the Stone's Cocksucker Blues does more than whine.

wow, I was a run-away on Hoyt and Broadway in 72. The Jesus freaks found me before the old men with limp dicks. Praise the Lord!

Easily one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, regardless of what the lyrics speak of. Melodically and instrumentally it's just mind-blowing... also the way The Engine Driver leads into this song just makes it like 20 times more awesome.
