Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I always thought the bit at the end was a kind of figurative statement... like... a contrast between the idealism of the narrator versus the harsh reality of the world he lives in.
Simply dislike the end with the horns and the noise. Sorta ruined the mood of the live album to me. I'll just leave it out of future playthroughs.
Ending is incredible
does anyone else hear the melody to fields of gold with the trumpet 2/3 of the way through the song? please respond to me directly.
he sure was.
Hmmm, I guess I'm the only one, but this is their only song I don't like...
RIP Neil Perry
was there ever any doubt?
Quite possibly my favorite Decemberists song.
Freaking love it.
Love love love love it. love it.
what are they shouting at the end? can anyone make it out? i'm dying to know.
I love this song to death, but the end is just a worthless cacophony and I haaaaate it. :(
If you've seen them do this live, there's no way it could be your least favourite. [I hope.]
The noise rock element (clearly inspired by sonic youth) art the end makes my heart jump out of my mouth do 14,000 laps have a beer make sweet love then jump bck in! It feels good!
I love noise.
I think this is my favorite Decemberists song.
