They also remind me that emotion can be in a song and not sound like crap. When I hear angsty roars from the usual "Theory of a Nickelfault" I tend to get irritated if not downright angry.
The Dears fix all of that.

NME Awards Tour
The Kaiser Chiefs (This was before I got bored of them and they were still only 'okay'. Meh.)
Bloc Party (Disappointing, as only Little Thoughts and So Here We Are really stood out. Quite bland.)
The Futureheads (I didn't like them when I went in and came out adoring them. That's all I need to say)
The Killers (The sound was a bit poor, they had to leave the stage for a bit 10 minutes in for technical difficulties and they weren't THAT great, but the atmosphere was awesome. The two shot end combo of Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll and All These Things That I've Done was... Hah, KILLER! I slay me...)
Idlewild w/Sons & Daughters (My first ever gig was Idlewild at the Barrowlands when they were touring The Remote Part, and they were nowhere near as good this time. El Capitan was genius, mind, but overall Sons & Daughters blew them out the water. Great stuff.)
